I compared with other machines (running SuSE, Solaris, DEC Unix) and nowhere does sendmail produce this extra line. It also confuses other software. For example try to "bounce" one of these mails with mutt: the mail looses all its header information. Actually the header lines now appear in the body of the message. Similar things happen with other programs.
