Linux 2.2.17 has some problems with virtual memory management. Perhaps the dpkg problem is related to this. Does linux log something like "VM: do_try_to_free_pages failed for [dpkg]"? I suggest to install Linux 2.2.18 + Andrea Arcangeli's VM-global-2.2.18pre25 Patch, which can be found on a kernel.org mirror under people/andrea or Linux >= 2.2.19pre2, which has this VM patch included. hth, moritz -- Moritz Schulte <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.chaosdorf.de/moritz/ Debian/GNU supporter - http://www.debian.org/ http://www.gnu.org/ GPG fingerprint = 3A14 3923 15BE FD57 FC06 B501 0841 2D7B 6F98 4199
