It works in tetex-bin 1.0.7-1 and above; you can just use xdvi on compressed files directly. Unfortunately there were bugs in the xdvi that was about to make it into potato and decompression support had to be temporarily removed. I guess you could try taking just the /usr/X11R6/bin/xdvi from the tetex-bin package in unstable (you can extract packages manually with dpkg-deb -x, see the man page), putting that in /usr/local/bin, and seeing if that works. -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
