...via the debian-friendly method update-rc.d remove xdm preferably. also, to get to the console even while X is jogging away, just CONTROL-ALT-F1 (or F4 or F2...) and to get back to X, you can alt-f7 (or control-alt-f7 -- control isn't necessary unless you're already within X). -- DEBIAN NEWBIE TIP #25 from Will Trillich <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : Did you know you have MORE THAN ONE CONSOLE to use?
