hi, are you sure that lilo is installed? lilo.conf is in /etc dpkg -l | grep lilo. on my system this is the output.
ii lilo 21.7.5-5 LInux LOader - The Classic OS loader can loa if you don't get anything similar the run apt-get install lilo. hope that helps regards harsha
