some_command | tee filename

You can also use script to capture an entire session.

In the script, the command line parameters are $1, $2, etc. The output
of a command can be put into a command line by using backquotes or $():

  myscript `mycommand_that_outputs_two_words`

Then the script:

#!/bin/bash
# myscript -- echoes the first argument
if [ -z "$1" ]
then
        echo No arguments supplied"
        exit 1
else
        echo $1
fi
