A frequent issue in poor client/server application design. A similar issue faces users of SAS (http://www.sas.com/) in which remote sessions launched with SAS/CONNECT and SAS/SHARE remain open if not explicitly logged off. The result is a slow DoS self-inflicted attack as server load climbs. This has been an open issue with SAS for well over five years, and is common to *all* platforms on which the product runs.
