that's probably what i needed... i didn't know that was an option! also, i do have localhost (127.0.0.1) in /etc/hosts... as far as i can tell, mysql is creating the socket, i'm pretty sure... in the config.php file in php-nuke, i told it to use camelot as the server, which is the hostname. at least now i have some more things to try... i think nuke wants to use tcp/ip and not sockets... i'll give it a try in the next day or two! thanks, jason -- registered linux user #202942 http://counter.li.org/ ---------------------------- http://www.theigloo.dhs.org
