It is possible and not to difficult to get it running on woody. Set up /etc/apt/preferences like dman explains: http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2001/debian-user-200112/msg01571.html Then use the -s option like he suggests in the post. I used apt-get to install all the build-depends. Then I ran the source command to compile the package. If it errored out on a build depend because of versioning I installed that package from unstable. Took a few tries and a little time on my dialup connection but it worked. gnucash 1.6.4 is very nice.
