There's an issue with libpng compatibility. (Take a look at debian-kde archives for more details.) It's been fixed now in unstable (thank you daniel and chris for your quick work on this). I have had unstable kde for quite a while and it works quite well. If there are no RC bugs in the new packages, they should migrate to woody eventually.
