Would it not be better to have CONFIG_DEVFS_FS=n I am currently reading /usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.17/Documentation/filesystems/devfs/README to see what advantages there are if any. Currently I don't have /dev/ide0 since I was running 2.2 previously. Anyone know how to create devfs? I still have /dev/hd? in my fstab and boot up has been UNEFFECTED however I am getting the following message in dmesg: hda: IBM-DTLA-307020, ATA DISK drive hdb: IC35L040AVER07-0, ATA DISK drive hdc: MATSHITA CR-594, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15 hda: 40188960 sectors (20577 MB) w/1916KiB Cache, CHS=39870/16/63 hdb: 80418240 sectors (41174 MB) w/1916KiB Cache, CHS=79780/16/63 Partition check: /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: [PTBL] [2501/255/63] p1 p2 < p5 p6 p7 p8 p9 > /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target1/lun0: [PTBL] [5005/255/63] p1 < p5 p6 > cramfs: wrong magic What is cramfs? Just curious to hear other people's opinions on this matter, i.e. don't use devfs. It seems to me the debian kernel should have CONFIG_DEVFS_FS=n. -walter
