You can get the MD5 sums for the current packages by checking Packages.gz for the appropriate distribution. This is relatively reliable for Woody and Potato, but Sid changes so often that it's only really useful immediately after you update. Just connect to one of the debian mirrors and go to /debian/dists/<distrib>/main/<architecture>/Packages.gz for example: /debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz or /debian/dists/testing/main/binary-sparc/Packages.gz -Alex
