I believe this list is geared towards discussion and usage of debian linux, so your comment on Redhat might go heard better on a Redhat mailing list. Many users haven't used Redhat in so long they wouldn't understand what you're referring to (if you would have mentioned a version number of Redhat that you're using). > I really don't think that the linux documentation is very straightforward. > First, the toggle boot flag operation seems to be one that can nail > novices. Are you implying that consumers are novices? (ducks and runs away) > Second, making a MBR and trying to decide between the defaults and > some custom configuration is annoying since the documentation does not seem > to indicate the consequences down the road of not following the default > configuration. As with anything in life, make sure that you know what you're doing before you do it. This usually involves some research on the topic. Like I said earlier, feedback on this topic might be better suited for a Redhat mailing list. > Does debian even give you an option of not making a boot > disk....Why? Unless you are a guru you just shot yourself in the foot. Yes, it does (last time I installed it). Sometimes I don't have a floppy around at the time. I usually install debian with floppies, and it has a rescue function built in. Or tomsrtbt is very good as well. Jeremy -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
