It is only a vague hint, but if you're unafraid to loose data on the device, you could try repartitioning the disk with cfdisk's ``-z''-option. This will start cfdisk with an empty partition table, and thereby hopfully working around cfdisk's inability to detect the size of the disk. If you dare, how are the results?
