Thanks for the help so far. I have found out what is wrong though. Have a read of this bug report and thread http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=323747 http://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2005/08/msg00177.html seems it is related to the transition to KDE 3.4.2 and the upgrade of the cpp libraries.
