Oops, my mistake. I'm too lazy to type debian-user@lists.debian.org (or put it in my addressbook) so I tend to grab an existing message, hit reply (eh, I mean Reply-to-list :-), remove the existing subject and content and type a new message. Guess there is something in the headers that ties it to the thread, I always assumed threading was done based on the subject.
