Bingo ! It was the battery: it provided only 1.2 V. That was enough to keep CMOS content, but apparently, it did muck up the wake-up circuits. I did not think that a Lithium battery could be exhausted after only 2 years or so. Apparently, my mobo consumes more power than my watch.... Now that I've replaced the battery, wake-up works normally. Thanks for the help.
