If you were to look at the ntp-docs that are
in /usr/share/doc/ntp-docs/html/
Specifically:
file:///usr/share/doc/ntp-doc/html/ntpd.html
about 2/3rds of the way down the file.
You will find a section called: Command Line Options
In there you will find the "-L" option.
-L
Do not listen to virtual IPs. The default is to listen.
So if you are using Debian Sarge (I assume), to the
file /etc/init.d/ntp-server change the following partial line:
/usr/sbin/ntpd -- -p /var/run/ntpd.pid -u $UGID
to this
/usr/sbin/ntpd -- -p /var/run/ntpd.pid -L -u $UGID
adding the -L will make ntpd not listen on Virtual IPs.
