No, aptitude will it make it worse. I can´t get aptitude to do, or at
least to apparently do, what I want. Besides that, package selection
with aptitude is a horrible task. It seems to select or deselect
whatever it wants but not what I want to have selected.

Yeah, I have installed that and things are working so far. But there
are dependency problems that cannot be solved before the packages are
fixed.

The problem is the broken dependencies. If you install Xorg, you get
conflicts with packages or unfullfilled dependencies with packages
that have not been adapted to Xorg. Dselect deselected lots of
packages I want to keep automatically, and I cannot reselect them
manually for installation. Currently, it looks like this:

I got it down to only the above, but it is not fixable. I even lost
the fonts for the X server and had to repair that to get Xorg to work.

Well, I only needed some QT libs to compile a program I want to try
out. I didn´t get the libs, but a broken system instead.
