No, aptitude will it make it worse. I can´t get aptitude to do, or at least to apparently do, what I want. Besides that, package selection with aptitude is a horrible task. It seems to select or deselect whatever it wants but not what I want to have selected. > Also make sure that you install the xorg package! Yeah, I have installed that and things are working so far. But there are dependency problems that cannot be solved before the packages are fixed. > Some package are still from xorg-6.9 but none of those should be any harm: > libice-dev > libxft-dev > pm-dev > and some small other ones, some not from xorg. The problem is the broken dependencies. If you install Xorg, you get conflicts with packages or unfullfilled dependencies with packages that have not been adapted to Xorg. Dselect deselected lots of packages I want to keep automatically, and I cannot reselect them manually for installation. Currently, it looks like this: yun:/home/lee# dselect Reading package lists... I even lost the fonts for the X server and had to repair that to get Xorg to work. Well, I only needed some QT libs to compile a program I want to try out. I didn´t get the libs, but a broken system instead. GH -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
