Hallo, thanks for your reply! uname -a Linux hda6-pentium3 2.4.27-2-386 #1 Wed Aug 17 09:33:35 UTC 2005 i686 GNU/Linux ls -lah /dev/dsp crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 3 2005-02-26 07:39 /dev/dsp , and alsaplayer seems to play wav files all right.
