I am trying to convert a .tif scanned image of text to something readable by web browsers, ie png or jpg.
Using xv there is a bad loss in image quality, so that the text becomes unreadable. I tried adjusting all the xv dials, but couldn't achieve acceptable quality. tifftopnm from the netpbm library gives the following error which is a documented bug which has been fixed in an upstream version, but I'd rather not backport it to woody unless I have to. Any other suggestions for doing this image conversion with minimal loss of image quality? bash-2.05b$ tifftopnm Culture2.tif tifftopnm: writing PBM file P4 1480 2001 tifftopnm: invalid value for fillorder: 0 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
