I am using kernel 2.6.14-2-386 and yaird 0.0.12-8.
It appears that yaird requires that one be running the kernel that is
being targeted when creating an initrd image. This is because it gets
the system configured release kernel name (uname -r) to generate paths.
This means one cannot use a generic Linux bootcd (like Triinity or
Knoppix) to create a boot drive, because the modules and possibly other
items cannot be found.
Also, there is a problem with using a drive other than the current boot
drive to run yaird, because it says that the drive is busy, if it is
mounted (/dev/sda? is busy message), which it would need to be in order
to configure the new root boot image. I would like to be able to do
chroot /newrootdrive, and then run yaird from the new point.
Am I missing something, or is there no reasonable way to create a Debian
boot cd that is capable of creating a new initrd image from Debian Linux
and yaird? By the way, the bootcd package appears to require lilo, and
I am using grub.
