I am writing an "article" on this and doing research. I currently have a massive document being worked upon. So far it is ~35 pages and growing. The theory here is something changed. Something I am not sure which did where or what. Currently, I have these conditions, all on freshly installed virtual machines. I am using: sarge/stable installer for sarge/stable daily snap etch/testing installer for etch/testing daily snap sid/unstable installer for sid/unstable daily snap sid/unstable installer for sid/unstable/experimental I my sources.list/apt.conf setup are: stable only in apt.conf and sources.list stable only in apt.conf sarge in sources.list stable only in apt.conf stable in sources.list sarge in sources.list sarge only in apt.conf and sources.list sarge only in apt.conf stable in sources.list sarge only in apt.conf sarge in sources.list stable in sources.list testing only in apt.conf and sources.list testing only in apt.conf etch in sources.list testing only in apt.conf testing in sources.list etch in sources.list etch only in apt.conf and sources.list etch only in apt.conf testing in sources.list etch only in apt.conf etch in sources.list testing in sources.list unstable only in apt.conf and sources.list unstable only in apt.conf sid in sources.list unstable only in apt.conf unstable in sources.list sid in sources.list sid only in apt.conf and sources.list sid only in apt.conf unstable in sources.list sid only in apt.conf unstable in sources.list sid in sources.list unstable only in apt.conf sid in sources.list experimental in sources.list unstable only in apt.conf unstable in sources.list sid in sources.list experimental in sources.list sid only in apt.conf unstable in sources.list experimental in sources.list sid only in apt.conf unstable in sources.list sid in sources.list experimental in sources.list From early results thus far, it looks as though I may have to go back to potato or woody to find what changed where. So please, bug me regular to finish this, as I may stop working on this... I also need to go through bugs for apt and dpkg to draw a time line with corresponding bugs and releases. Someone PLEASE stop me if this has already been done, this is a lot of work. -- greg, [EMAIL PROTECTED] The technology that is Stronger, better, faster: Linux
