-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Just for kicks I surfed to http://www.goodbye-windows.com and downloaded the Debian installer for Windows. I already had Etch on this computer, but went ahead and ran the installer just to see what it would do.
When I had installed Etch the first time, I chose to install the 32-bit version because I've had problems in the past not being able to obtain 64-bit versions of some packages. Well, the Debian installer ran fine, and I used some empty space that I had reserved to install it. To my surprise it installed Etch 64-bit. So now I have both 32 bit and 64 bit. Here's my question. Why do the two different versions report different a different amount of memory? The 32 bit version says I have a total of 886MB, where the 64-bit version says there is 1024MB. I have 1024MB, so I am at a loss why this shows: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 906792 797600 109192 0 37208 603928 - -/+ buffers/cache: 156464 750328 Swap: 1542168 0 1542168 Anyone have a clue? It's not a real big deal because there's plenty of free RAM, but it does pique my curiosity. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFF0au/iXBCVWpc5J4RArs0AJ9Wxef8J8KcDKi0PaqzoBZ6NlAvDACfUBlj XP7NKBKuAaREK3zMEPX8QC4= =kZCB -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
