The required plugin is present but it cannot be used.
   

Well, theoretically, it should work, but apparantly it doesn't. I don't
know why. I only have one more idea: open the mozilla preferences menu,
go to Navigator/Helper Applications and select "New Type". Enter the
correct mime type, select your realplayer executable (probably
/usr/local/RealPlayer8/realplay) as application to use and try again.

I have solved the problem by following your instructions you suggested.  
The  main problem is the  properties of  realplayer in mozilla  is not 
open when the file is .smi, only in .ram. Therefore, if i added .smi 
file, the realplayer would open when the mozilla encounter .smi.
