You probably can remove gnome-desktop-environment safely using aptitude.
Those individual Gnome programs that KDE depends upon will remain while most of the others will be removed.
I'll give it a try. If it doesn't work, I can always reinstall gnome-desktop-environment (I guess). Thank you all.
