The non-bigmem kernel works with upto 4G of memory. I don't know if there's any advantage in using the bigmem kernel if you have 4G. AFAIK, the non-bigmem kernel is compiled with the HIGMEM4G option, and the bigmem kernel is compiled with HIGHMEM64G option, but I don't have an i386 machine available to check right now. > > how about apt-file?
