You can add the non-free repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list and then run: aptitude update aptitude install sun-java5-jdk All this needs to be done as root. Reply back to this list if you have trouble with these steps, and someone will provide more details. PS: Just an idle question of mine, what's linux 9.0?
