____________________________________REPLY_____________________________________I'm having a wierd dependency issue. I've installed 'j2re1.4', when compiling I'm given this error:
dpkg: error processing j2sdk1.4-doc (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of j2sdk1.4-src: j2sdk1.4-src depends on j2sdk1.4 (= 1.4.0.99beta-1); however: Package j2sdk1.4 is not configured yet. dpkg: error processing j2sdk1.4-src (--configure): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured Setting up j2sdk1.3-doc (1.3.1.02b-2) ... This package is an installer package, it does not actually contain the J2SDK documentation. You will need to go download one of the archives:

This package is an installer package, it does not actually contain the J2SDK documentation. You will need to go download one of the archives:
j2sdk-1_4_1-doc.zip j2sdk-1_4_0-doc-ja.zip
(choose the non-update version if this is the first installation). Please visit
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html
now and download. The file should be
owned by root.root and be copied to /tmp.
Ok, so I dutifully went and downloaded 'j2sdk-1_4_1-doc.zip', put it in the /tmp directory, chowned root -- but it still throws up the same error.
Any suggestions - I'm attempting to get Jakarta Tomcat going. Is Mozilla required? I hope not, I want to stay away from an XFree environment.
Check the version of the download again carefully. the current version on the Sun websit fro download is j2sdk-1_4_2-doc.zip
If that is what you have then you will need to simply change the 2 to a 1. I just did this same upgrade; from 1.3 to 1.4 yesterday.
