Maybe your provider does not allow unencrypted transmission of username and password. Try to change your msmtp configuration to "tls on". By the way, the version of mutt in Lenny and Sid has built-in (E)SMTP support. (Your user-agent string "KNode/0.10.5" suggests that you might be using Sid.)
