There are a few packages that I install directly from source onto my

know that I have installed those packages manually?
That should not be necessary; aptitude assumes "manually" anyway for
packages which it did not install itself.
The packages that I have installed by source are:
MIMEDefang
Dovecot
SpamAssassin
You can check what aptitude thinks about them:
aptitude search spamassassin dovecot mimedefang
Manually installed packages have status "i " while automatically
installed ones have "i A".
They have a "c" next to them.
