Then you can look at the FAQ: /usr/share/doc/openssh-client/faq.html#2.7 But I doubt it gives useful information for Debian machines (everything else should be OK). If you still don't know what's going on, it could be a problem related to reverse DNS or FQDN (if there are inconsistencies, this could lead to problems with the .Xauthority file).
