hi,

I recall there is / was a problem with network-manager not liking it
when you have the '/etc/network/interfaces' setup with the wireless
interface. here is a copy of my interfaces file if it any help.

$ cat /etc/network/interfaces
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
after getting it working, but some problems still remain

1) the WPA passphrase/psk key doesn't get saved and, therefore, i have to enter it on each reboot. is there an easy way how to get it running? this is probably kwallet/gnome-keyring related issue, but i am not using neither kde nor gnome.

2) knetworkmanager seems to be more powerful than nm-applet. however, the first one behaves strangely. e.g., if i enter bad passphrase (or psk, instead), it gets stuck at 28% during connection phase and stays there. clicking on the name of the network in the applet brings back this window and it is not possible to change it. in nm-applet, both passphrase and psk work...

any hints are gratefully appreciated!

best,
