Hallo Jungs,
Servus!
personally i don't have any experience with intel raid on board, however
i would be suspicious about it. quick search on google brings for
example the following:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=881957
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/does-debian-4.0r1-has-full-support-for-intel-q35-express-608815/
reading further, you might have more 'serious' problem:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=494532
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=452134
if the installation kernel doesn't recognize the raid or the sata
controller (drives), it doesn't matter whether you use minimal install
or full dvds - i think the kernels are the same. in this case, only
using newer kernel *might* help.
i don't know whether your RAID controller does not get recognized, or
the the drives (sata controller) themselves. if only the former is the
case (try disabling the raid in bios), why wouldn't you use the software
raid capability of linux? it seems to me that the on board raid
controller might be 'fake-raid' anyway.
maybe somebody at this list with more experience will be able to provide
more help.
best,
