Make sure all NIS user ids are > 1000.  User ids <= 1000 are "reserved" 
for "system users" on more OSes than just Debian.  I'm surprised you don't 
have other conflicts already.

As a temporary fix, you could "move" libuuid to another uid -- but there's 
no way the system is going to be able tell you what files owned by "user 
#532" are really owned by "sushmita" vs. really owned by "libuuid"; the 
system considers them the same user.
