Eric, I happen to own an eeepc 701, which I run under Debian Lenny. I'd recommend you follow the instructions from the now inactive debian eeepc project: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC My netbook works like a charm, except for hibernate. But mine is a very primitive incarnate of the eeepc, and as I understand hibernate does work on the newer versions, which your 10'' screen designates as one.
