My sound often gets stuck and just repeats the same short sound over and over again, like a reverberation or an echo. The volume goes up and down cyclically--in fact it may be playing a single tone.
This sometimes happens after a period in which the sound works OK, or a period in which there is no sound at all. I've run into this most recently while trying to watch a show at hulu.com (thought the day before things worked OK). I've run into it at other sites. Can anyone suggest how to diagnose or fix the problem? I have stuff from Marillat's AV repository installed, and used iceweasel. The system is Lenny, with Intel HDA ICH7 onboard. The logs and .xsession-errors don't seem to have anything. The alsa site suggested HDA Analyzer (http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa.git;a=blob_plain;f=hda-analyzer/run.py;hb=HEAD) but it says (run as root) <QUOTE> No HDA codecs were found or insufficient priviledges for /dev/snd/controlC* and /dev/snd/hwdepC*D* device files. You may also check, if you compiled HDA driver with HWDEP interface as well or close all application using HWDEP. </QUOTE> I have the controlC* files but no hwdepC*D*; maybe the driver isn't compiled with HWDEP on Debian? I have a lot of plugins; I wonder if they are interefering with each other (list at bottom--is there any easy way to capture this info?). hulu appears to use Flash 9, judging by http://www.hulu.com/about. My flashplayer 10 (not 9) plugin (libflashplayer.so) is from flashplayer-mozilla 1:10.0.22.87-0.1 in Marillat's repository. ----------/proc/asound/card0/codec#2 ------------------------------- Codec:
