I suppose you can, although I didn't try it. I think you can install anything you want; I heavily customised mine (in fact I am no longer using any of the Bubba-specific software provided by Excito). Apt-get works; upgrading to Lenny is just a matter of pointing your sources.list towards it, I think. The kernel is 2.6.26.5, so it should not be a problem (don't quote me on that, though; I also do not quite understand why you should want to use Lenny, rather than Etch, on a server. First prepare a "rescue stick" before starting any experiments!). Mind that it is a "headless" device. Everything has to be done through ssh (or local telnet). It has no cd-rom drive, keyboard, or monitor. But it is just a Debian system (for powerpc, not for i386). Everything behaves just like your desktop Debian system. Don't expect gigantic calculating power from this machine. It is good for shifting bits around (what a home server/gateway should do) but not for anything calculation-intensive. I mean, the low power consumption and silent operation had to come from somewhere. Absolutely fine though, as a server/firewall/gateway.
