You don't have gcc installed. > i really appreciate the help. but i need to call it a night. if anyone > has some ideas shoot them over and ill take a look in the morning > > also, im in the process of burning all the full 5 disk debian dvds. > i installed the minimal network cd image. perhaps that is hurting more > then helping? Indeed: Apparently you [1] installed Debian on a disk that has a broken fat file system on it (is that even possible?), then [2] you ran fsck while the partition was still mounted. Now [3] you want to install more Debian packages. [1] is going to write data onto a broken file system. That's a sure way to diminish the chances of rescuing data. [2] is a sure way to create a broken file system and to lose data, or to damage a damaged FS even more. [3] is going to write even more data onto a broken file system, see [1]. On a side note, you don't need to download and to burn all the DVDs if the computer you're installing on has an internet connection. Packages not on the installer CD will be downloaded as needed. You don't want to install all available packages. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
