SO I have a debootrap Debian 5.0 (i386) on /home/kushalk/debianTest I chroot into it by:
#chroot /home/kushalk/debianTest and then mount the /proc by: #mount -t proc proc /proc Now when I run: #apt-get update #apt-get upgrade I always noticed that whenever a kernel tries to get upgraded, I get the following error message: .............................. Setting up linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 (2.6.26-17lenny1) ... Running depmod. Running mkinitramfs-kpkg. Not updating initrd symbolic links since we are being updated/reinstalled (2.6.26-17 was configured last, according to dpkg) Not updating image symbolic links since we are being updated/reinstalled (2.6.26-17 was configured last, according to dpkg) Running postinst hook script update-grub. Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub User postinst hook script [update-grub] exited with value 1 dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) debian:/# .............................. However if the upgrade process does not involve any kernel upgrade then apt-get does not complain about anything. Any ideas? Please CC me as I am not on the Mailing List.
