Yes, I know.

But concrete kernel versions may have issues with some specific hardware 
piece (mostly wifi cards -newer cards may not be included in older 
kernels-) and for a user standpoint, it's easier to know that the machine 
(or the device) they are intended to buy it just works out-of-the-box 
with a Debian release, the one they are thinking to install.

I mean, users do not usually care about kernels versions or atheros 
chipsets, so having a HCL would be a nice, time-saving and very useful 
(also for companies) tool.
