Just MHO: With todays automated attacks it's not that your computer will stay twice as secure if it is only connected half the time. Either it is reasonably safe or it is not safe. I'd suggest that you take the necessary steps to keep your machine reasonably safe and don't worry about whether it is connected to the internet a few hours more or less. As long as you remain unspecific about what security risks you are concerned about, no-one will be able to help you about those concerns. NB: What do you mean by 'quick'?
