Well, the audio has stopped working. I tried installing Ekiga last night but couldn't get the echo test call to work. Ekiga reported that there was a problem with the audio device. I tried USB headphones as an alternate audio device, no luck. At present, I am hearing the clicks after every several seconds on the speakers (as I mentioned earlier above). If I go to Settings->System Settings->Multimedia and do a "Test" on the various devices, the motherboard's audio does produce any sound, but I can hear the audio if I do it on my headphones. The motherboard is M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 with chipset AMD 880G/SB850. Audio hardware is Realtek ALC892. The sound was working properly when I had 32 bit Debian Testing installed till yesterday. The hardware detected on my systems is: #------------------------------------------------------------ ~$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: HDA Generic [HDA Generic] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: ATI HDMI [ATI HDMI] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 #------------------------------------------------------------ ~$ lspci | grep -i audio 00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) (rev 40) 01:05.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RS880 Audio Device [Radeon HD 4200] #------------------------------------------------------------ lshw shows: *-multimedia description: Audio device product: RS880 Audio Device [Radeon HD 4200] vendor: ATI Technologies Inc physical id: 5.1 bus info: p...@0000:01:05.1 version: 00 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi bus_master cap_list configuration: driver=HDA Intel latency=0 resources: irq:19 memory:fe8e8000-fe8ebfff #------------------------------------------------------------ And snd modules loaded are: ~$ lsmod | grep snd snd_usb_audio 64070 0 snd_usb_lib 13928 1 snd_usb_audio snd_hda_codec_atihdmi 2251 1 snd_hda_codec_realtek 235506 0 snd_hda_intel 19907 0 snd_hda_codec 54244 3 snd_hda_codec_atihdmi,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel snd_hwdep 5380 2 snd_usb_audio,snd_hda_codec snd_pcm_oss 32591 0 snd_mixer_oss 12606 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 60471 4 snd_usb_audio,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_seq_midi 4400 0 snd_rawmidi 15515 2 snd_usb_lib,snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event 4628 1 snd_seq_midi snd_seq 42881 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_timer 15582 2 snd_pcm,snd_seq snd_seq_device 4493 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq snd 46446 12 snd_usb_audio,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_hwdep,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device soundcore 4598 1 snd snd_page_alloc 6249 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm usbcore 121959 8 snd_usb_audio,snd_usb_lib,usbhid,usb_storage,ohci_hcd,xhci,ehci_hcd #------------------------------------------------------------ What am I missing here that the audio, that was working in 32 bit Testing, is not working in amd64 Testing? Why am I getting those clicks in the speakers? Have I missed some audio related packages? Or is this a problem with amd64 Debian itself? Thanks. -- Please reply to this list only.
