Hi, I just upgraded to 2.4.20 and my network stopped working... :(

I Googled around and it looks like there have been quite a few changes with
2.4.20.

At the moment the machine's running with a via-rhine card, but I'd like to
get the 3c509 back again.

I ran 'modprobe isa-pnp' and then 'modprobe 3c509'. It dies with:

/lib/modules/2.4.20-3-686/kernel/drivers/net/3c509.o: init_module: No such
device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including
invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-3-686/kernel/drivers/net/3c509.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.20-3-686/kernel/drivers/net/3c509.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-3-686/kernel/drivers/net/3c509.o: insmod 3c509 failed

There's nothing useful in dmesg or syslog. I edited /etc/modules.conf to
add 'alias eth1 3c509' as the last line.

There doesn't seem to be a
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/net-modules.txt file in this release
so I don't know what to set 'options' to.

Any suggestions?!

Thanks,
C
