Maybe not as fancy, but I find that mtr is *really* useful.

(It's packaged in Debian...)

In xfce I see it's got an icon for the app in the icon box - I can't figure out where that icon is to put it on my menu. It's actually got the letters "mtr" in the icon so it's obviously for mtr. Sounds like a daft question but where would that icon be? It doesn't appear to have been installed with the package.
