Mine (under lenny) is this:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier  "Generic Keyboard"
    Driver              "kbd"
    Option              "XkbRules"      "xorg"
    Option              "XkbModel"      "pc105"
    Option              "XkbLayout"     "es"
EndSection

So try by commenting ("#") the "XkbVariant" line (the full line, 
starting in "#Option") and the restart the X server, relogin or reboot.
