(in my experience, most rt, intel, and linksys boards Just Work) what does modinfo or insmod say? does ifconfig -a show any interfaces you weren't expecting? and as wayne mentioned, you shouldn't have to build this. it should be in the stock kernel of most distros (one of the reasons i like these cards).
