The best way to test java browsing related problems is by going to java
test page:

http://www.java.com/es/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1

It will detect the current "running" version and should detection fails,
most surely is due to your browser (you system) is using OpenJDK release
as the default java, instead Oracle's one and many sites have problems
with java plugins different than Sun/Oracle.
