,----
| GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1200
| GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1920x1200
`----

... makes only the grub menu show up in 1920x1200, the console comes up
in 80x25.

The second line is put into /boot/grub/grub.cfg like this:

,----
| ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###
| menuentry 'Debian GNU/Linux, mit Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64' --class debian --class
gnu-linux --class gnu --class os {
|       load_video
|       set gfxpayload=1920x1200
| [...]
`----

Is this supposed to work like that? Can I get full resolution on the
console?
