Yes, and it is improved upon by using a "real" firewall, but
nonetheless, NAT does offer some protection and all this posts about
being able to poke holes through NAT ... well, they are mostly "in
theory", with the "in practice" real situation being pretty unlikely
unless an attack was directly targeted.
